Big Buz (uk)

Old skool / Nu Skool Jungle / D&B

Big Buz started collecting vinyl in 93 after discovering the local pirate station Freedom FM and falling in love with the music. He bought his first set of decks in 1995 using money that he saved up, and the lifelong journey started. He got his first slot on pirate radio at the age of 15, broadcasting on Freedom FM from the Mardyke Estate in Rainham. 1998 brought a new side to the scene when he started attending raves at the legendary Bagley’s Warehouse in Kings Cross and then becoming a regular at The End on a Friday night. ukFlow.tv was his first regular show, taking over the Saturday night slot of 8-10 alongside DJ Disorder, whom he had known since he started collecting vinyl. They quickly became known for having a deep and varied jungle collection, regularly playing music that had long since been forgotten in the fields and warehouses of the early rave days. Big Buz played at various venues throughout London in the mid-00s and headlined a night at The Cross Club in Prague alongside other DJ’s from ukFlow.tv, along with appearances at Movement at bar Rumba, the longest-running DnB night in the country. Big Buz held the drive-time show on Origin FM on a Tuesday night for over a year, becoming known for his varied jungle selection. With the demise of ukFlow.tv Big Buz concentrated on becoming a vinyl collector, seeking out those rare and long-forgotten tunes in record shops and online. We now welcome him to Frequency Radio moving from collector to DJ again and look forward to hearing how deep the crates of jungle in his possession go.
